CONSTRUCTION AND
ENGINEERING OF EXTRA-LOW VOLTAGE SYSTEMS IN HIGH RISE STRUCTURES: CONTRACTORS’
OVERVIEW
Building Management System:
— A Computer system connected to outstations which are
programmed to decide on the necessary action required to control or monitor.
— It controls, monitors, and
optimizes the installed electrical and mechanical equipment for comfort,
safety and efficiency.
The
monitored systems include: Power systems, Lighting, HVAC, Access Control, CCTV,
Fire alarm system, Lifts, plumbing, and other security
CCTV (Closed Circuit Television)
System:
— It is a video surveillance security
system controlled by a Workstation through special software. E.g: NiceVision
software.
— It can be interfaced with Access
control and Fire alarm system via a Supervision Workstation. E.g: Siemens
MM8000

Access Control System
— Used to monitor access to the
building and restricted areas
— The system consists of Controllers,
Readers, Controlled doors, turnstiles, and barriers that utilize a vast network
of Access control System.

— A supervision station (e.g: Siemens
MM8000) is the alarm management system which monitors the fire, Access, CCTV,
and HVAC.
Telecommunication System:
The
Telecommunications System is designed based on a Structured cabling
methodology:
Ø An Entrance Facility in Ground Floor
(PTO Room) receives the external Fiber optic cable.
Ø A Vertical Distribution (Backbone )
distributes the Fiber and copper cables to each technical Room (GDR)
Ø Horizontal Distribution: connects the
Technical rooms (GDR) to the User outlets. A consolidation point exists between
the GDR room and each user outlet.
— Backbone Cabling:
Ø 42,500m Cat7 Copper Cable; 3024
points (Backbone and Internal cabling between data center and MTC)
Ø 6000m 24 Core Multi-mode Fiber
(50/125um)
Ø 2000m 24 Core Single-mode
Fiber(9/125um)
— Horizontal cabling:
Ø 6216 Points of Copper
Ø 4824 Points of Fiber
Parking Management System
— It is controlled by a workstation
— Used to enable a more efficient use
of parking resources by Instantly pinpointing available parking spaces,
thereby, stopping congestion.
— Real-time Level wise vehicle
counting, and parking status
— Constitutes the Access Control (i.e,
Barrier control, Loops, Automatic gates,…)and security system.
— Offers improved design flexibility by
accommodating change.
